Entertainment Desk: Today, April 3, is National Film Day. The special day is celebrated every year with various events. BFDC is buzzing with people from the film industry. This time, the day will be celebrated on the premises of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) under the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mohammad Ali Arafat, will inaugurate National Film Day 2024 after placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at BFDC at noon.
Film workers will celebrate the day with the slogan, ‘Our film is our pride; the film we will see in theaters is this hok angikar’. They are supposed to participate in the procession. After the procession, invited guests and film personalities will address the discussion meeting on the 2nd floor of FDC. The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting will be present as the chief guest. Member of Parliament and actor Ferdous Ahmed, Senior Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry Humayun Kabir Khondkar, and others will be present as special guests.
At the end of the discussion, the movie Mujib: The Shape of a Nation will be screened at 3:35 PM. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will also celebrate Film Day. There is a seminar titled ‘Film market expansion, country-to-country migration’ in the seminar room of the auditorium of the National Theater today at four o’clock in the afternoon. At six in the evening, there will be a Preeti Sammilani.
On April 3, 1957, on the last day of the Provincial Legislative Assembly, the then Industry and Commerce Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman introduced the ‘East Pakistan Film Development Agency’ bill.
