Satkhira Correspondent: Arshad Ali Mistry (53), who was sentenced to death in the Jasmin Nahar murder case, was arrested by the members of RAB-6’s Satkhira camp.
He was arrested on Tuesday (April 2) in Barakpur area under Dighulia police station in Khulna. He was on the run for 22 years.
Arshad Ali is the son of the deceased Adam Ali Mistry of Kalyanpur village in the Asashuni upazila of Satkhira. This information was stated in a press release sent from RAB-6’s Satkhira company headquarters.
According to the notification, Arshad Ali was married to Jasmine Nahar 11 years before the murder. On June 22, 2002, the husband and wife quarreled over the dowry due to a family dispute. Following this, the husband got angry and beat his wife with a wooden stick. Jasmin got hit on the head and fell on the ground. Later the locals rescued him and took him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In this incident, the victim’s sister filed a murder case against Arshad Ali at Shyamnagar police station. The accused has been absconding since the incident. In this case, the court sentenced the accused to death.
Recently, a raid team from the Satkhira camp of RAB-6 confirmed the location of Arshad Ali on the basis of secret information and arrested him on Tuesday.
