Dhaka Bureau: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen said, “UNICEF has cooperated with the whole world as well as Bangladesh in many ways during the Corona. Now, this special organization of the United Nations has expressed interest in working in the country with other aspects of the health sector, including safe motherhood and ensuring that children get 100% vaccines from the United Nations Children’s Fund. Safe Motherhood, UNICEF has also expressed its interest in playing a role in other developmental activities, such as implementing vaccine programs, supporting vaccine production in the country, and building child health infrastructure at the grassroots level..”
After a courtesy meeting with Sheldon Yate, the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund of UNICEF, and the Chief of the Health Section of the United Nations Children’s Fund, Maya Vandent, the Minister of Health, said this at the Secretariat of the Health Minister’s office this morning. Samant Lal Sen. Secretary of Health Education and Family Welfare Department Azizur Rahman, Director General of Health Education Department Professor Tito Mia, Acting Secretary of Health Services Department Muhammad Wahiduzzaman (Additional Secretary), and Joint Secretary (Global Health) Mamunur Rahman of the Healthcare Department were present during the meeting with the Health Minister.
In the meeting, the delegation of the United Nations Children’s Fund praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s various fruitful initiatives during the Corona period. They also said that the health sector of the country is improving more than before. The delegates also mentioned Bangladesh as an example of the world in immunization.
