10 militants in prison remanded

Dhaka Bureau: Court granted 10 days remand of 10 people in connection with the robbery of two militants sentenced to death by the court. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin’s court gave this order on Sunday (November 20) night. All the remanded accused are in jail in the case of Mohammadpur police station.

Before this, CMM court inspector Julhas filed this case against 20 people at the capital’s Kotwali police station. Later, the investigating officer of the case, Abu Said, applied to remand the 10 accused who were in jail in the case of Mohammadpur police station. Following the application, the court gave this order.

The accused are – Ansarullah Bangla Team members Abu Siddique Sohail and Mainul Hasan Shamim (recent absconders), Shahin Alam, Shah Alam, Eidi Amin, BM Mojibur Rahman, Mehdi Hasan, Sumon Hossain Patwari, Khairul Islam, Mozammel Hossain, Arafat Rahman, Sheikh Abdullah, A : Sabur, Rashidunnabi Bhuiyan, Syed Md. Ziaul Haque, Sabbirul Haque Chowdhury, Ayman alias Mashiur Rahman, Tanveer Shamshed, Riazul Islam and Omar Farooq.

Apart from this, at around 12.30 pm on this day, two militants who were sentenced to death in the murder case of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan were snatched from the main gate of the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court by pepper spray on their eyes and faces.

The two accused are Abu Siddique Sohail and Mainul Hasan Shamim, members of the banned militant organization Ansarullah Banglateam. Shamim’s house is in Madhavpur village of Chatak in Sunamganj. Besides, the source of the case said that Sohail’s house is in Vetoshwar village of Aditmari in Lalmonirhat.

According to the related sources, today was the date of hearing in the case of Anti-Terrorism Act filed at Mohammadpur police station. The number of accused is 20 people. Two of them are on bail. They appeared in court. 6 accused are absconding from the beginning. Another 12 accused were produced in the court from the jail.

After the hearing, Judge Mojibur Rahman of Dhaka’s Terrorism Dispute Tribunal ordered the trial to be started against 20 defendants. At the same time, he fixed January 5 as the date for taking the testimony. After that, the accused were being taken from the court to the CMM court jail in Dhaka. At the main gate of the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, some miscreants threw spray in the eyes of the police and tried to rob the two accused. They also beat the police. Among them, policeman Noor Azad was injured.

Shiplu, the driver of the eyewitness lawyer, said that every morning around 8 o’clock we bring sir (lawyer) from Uttara. After that there is no more work. I sat in front of the court. Suddenly I saw a commotion. I see some people are spayed in the eyes of the police. He tried to snatch the four handcuffed accused. Despite being injured, the police arrested two people. However, they snatched the other two.

Besides, some witnesses present at the scene said that four drivers also came to help the police. Militants also threw spray on them.

Meanwhile, after this incident, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Chief and Additional Police Commissioner Harun Or Rashid visited the spot.

Haroon Or Rashid said, this is an unexpected incident. There were many accused. 6 people came on two motorcycles and took away two militants by spraying new technique. They also raised their hands on the police. Due to spaying, they cannot see. They fled on a motorcycle. Our DB police are conducting check posts at every place. We are reviewing cc camera. Everyone is working. They will be arrested soon.

It is known that on February 19, 2016, the police received information that members of Ansarullah Bangla Team were staying with weapons in the Naboday housing area of ​​Mohammadpur police station. They have come together to plot against the government, to kill bloggers-writers-publishers. Police went there and arrested Shaheen Alam alias Kamal and Shah Alam alias Salauddin. Later, the militants opened fire on the police. Allahu Akbar ran away shouting. At that time police inspector Bahauddin Faruqi was hit on the head with a sharp chapati. Meanwhile, 8 grenades, 9 bombs and explosives were recovered from the accused. In this incident, the police filed a case in Mohammadpur police station. Investigated the case and filed a charge sheet accusing 20 people.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a red alert in the capital to arrest the two fugitive militants. Every police station and other units of the capital have been instructed to set up check posts. They have been instructed not to go outside Dhaka. Besides, Bangladesh Police has announced a reward of 10 lakh taka 20 lakh for each of those two terrorists who escaped.
