Own Correspondent: Due to the illegal cutting of Hrider Dam in the Lohagara-Satkaniya Hill Sonaichari Canal in South Chittagong without prior announcement, many people in the area suffered a lot due to water flow. One of the victims, named Ziaul Haque, filed a written application with the Chief Conservator of Forests, demanding compensation for the victims. The petitioner is a resident of Maijpara, Ward No. 1, Barahatia Union, Lohagara Upazila. Sonaichari is a canal flowing over Satkania from Lohagara.
In the written complaint of the petitioner, an influential circle at the origin of the Prakash Canal created the heart by illegally cutting it in early 2021. In the heart, the circle started their profitable business, including fish farming. As a result of this dam, the hilly area of the canal is submerged. The forest resources of the forest area are destroyed. The concerned local authorities were completely silent about the illegal damming of the canal. No action was taken against the gang. Rather, affinity is developed with the members of the circle. Not only that, some officials of the department took a boat trip to the illegally created heart for fun.
In such a situation, consciousness returns to the concerned authorities for no reason. Became active in cutting the illegal heart dam. On the night of February 3, the heart valve was cut without any announcement. In this way, many places in the downstream direction are submerged in the night. Many admit to extensive damage. The victims requested that the relevant higher authorities look into the damage.
