Dhaka Bureau: DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that if someone of the third gender extorts money from homes, roads, and vehicles, they will be brought under the law.
He said this at the monthly crime review meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium, Rajarbagh, on Saturday (March 23).
The DMP Commissioner said that the police have taken legal action against a person of the third gender in an incident in the Sherebangla Nagar police station area recently. Various types of extortion complaints are being received in the name of various members of the third gender. Appropriate legal action will be taken against them based on these allegations.
Habibur Rahman said that the service seekers who come to the police station to provide the desired service to the people should be provided as soon as possible and with sincerity. People first come to the police station to seek police services. How sincere the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is in public service should be understood by providing services as soon as possible to the respected citizens of the city.
He said that beat policing and community policing systems should be accelerated to deliver police services to people’s doorsteps as directed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The state has entrusted us with the responsibility of protecting people’s lives and property. It should be reflected in professionalism and desired service.
The commissioner also said that special attention should be paid to the traffic system during Ramzan. So far, the traffic system has been in good shape during Ramadan. We have to hold on to it. Instructions have already been given to the officers of the traffic department. Along with senior traffic officers, crime branch officers will also be on duty on the road.
The crime review meeting was attended by DMP Additional Police Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akhter, Dr. b. Mahid Uddin, Munibur Rahman, Asaduzzaman, and Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, as well as various levels of police officers.
