Narail representative: Allegations have been made against Saiful Islam Sumon, Chairman of No. 6 Jaipur Union Parishad of Lohagra Upazila of Narail, that he has been living in the Union Parishad with his family members for two years.
Locals said that Saiful Islam Sumon won the last union council election with the boat symbol. A few days after taking the oath, he occupied several rooms on the second floor of the Union Parishad and started living with seven family members.
On the condition of anonymity, one said, Since Saiful Islam Sumon became the chairman, I have seen that he lives in the Union Parishad with his family members. The second floor of the building is completely in his possession. Before this, I never saw any chairman staying in the council with his family.
Acknowledging the fact of living in the Union Parishad, the UP Chairman’s wife said, We have been living in the Parishad for two years. I am staying here to think about public service.
UP Chairman SM Saiful Islam Sumon said about the complaint: Two rooms have been allocated for me in the council. Staying there for a quarter. Another room is for police officers. The other is the server room. It is always locked. And the beat police officer’s room is sometimes opened when people come.
When Jaipur Union Parishad Secretary Russell was contacted over the phone, he said, I will talk to you (reporter) Eisen directly. Then he cut the line. After several attempts to contact him, he did not pick up the phone.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashfaqul Haque Chowdhury said that there is no rule to stay like this in the Union Parishad. This was not known. The chairman has been asked to leave the council immediately.
