Comilla Correspondent: Four more accused have been arrested in the case filed by the mother of college student Jamil Hasan Arnab in the open daylight shooting in Comilla, which is much talked about nationwide. At this time, a foreign pistol, a magazine, and four rounds were recovered.
The arrested were sent to Comilla Jail on Wednesday (March 20) by the court. A team of RAB-11 and CPC-2 Comilla offices conducted this operation in different parts of the district until Wednesday morning. Earlier, seven accused in this case were arrested by Thana and DB Police and five by RAB.
RAB-11, CPC-2 Comilla office captain Lt. Commander Mahmudul Hasan told reporters that, based on secret information, the RAB team conducted raids in different places in Adarsh Sadar Upazila of the district. In this operation, four accused in the murder of college student Jamil Hasan Arnab were arrested. They are Mozammal Hossain alias Johnny (25) son of Maqbul Mia of Shimangacha area of Comilla suburb; Faisal Ahmed alias Rimon (20) son of Ayub Ali of the same area; Saif Ali Riyad (22) son of Atiqur Rahman Khokon; and Anu Mia’s son, Md. Good (22). He also said that 1 foreign pistol, 1 magazine, and 4 rounds were recovered from them.
OC Feroz Hossain of Comilla Kotwali Model Police Station said that till Wednesday, 7 accused police and DB Police and 9 accused were arrested by RAB. Efforts are on to arrest the other absconding accused involved in the incident.
It is to be noted that on the afternoon of March 15, there was a clash and gunfire between Fazle Rabbi and Alauddin’s group and the Abul Kashem group of Shirangacha Madhyampara due to the dispute over the lease and dominance of the CNG-Maruti stand adjacent to the Sharingacha bus terminal. At one stage, college student Arnav died after being shot in the left side of the chest, and six people were seriously injured in the shooting. Jharna Akhter, the mother of Arnab, who was killed in this incident, named 25 people and filed a murder case against 35 unknown people at Kotwali Model Police Station.
