Koira representative: Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria is coming to Koira in Khulna as the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Khulna district and upazila administration are making extensive preparations for the arrival of the princess on Tuesday (March 19).
Besides strengthening the security in the area, the roads have already been cleaned. Tidying up the places visited by the princess is also going on. The entire Koira upazila is wrapped in a blanket of security, thanks to the combination of various forces and intelligence agencies.
Meanwhile, some women, including Sufia Khatun (40) of Nayani village in Maheshwaripur union of the upazila, expressed their hope that they would express their wishes after the arrival of Princess Crown Victoria.
They learned that the Swedish Princess Victoria will come to their area as a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He will talk to the beneficiaries of rainwater harvesting, the source of drinking water. Many women in that area, including Sufia, are already preparing to talk to Rani about this.
There is a long-standing shortage of drinking water in 12 villages in this union, with a population of about 41,000. In three months of the year, it rains, but the remaining nine months have to suffer a lot. Four rainwater harvesters have been installed in Bhagba, Maheshwaripur, Sathalia, and Nayani villages of the union to treat drinking water. Through this, 1,600 beneficiaries can collect drinking water for six months through the card system. For the remaining six months, these beneficiaries also have to buy drinking water at 60 taka per drum. However, housekeeping and other works have to be done with the salt water of the river. Due to this, they have to suffer from health problems throughout the year.
Meanwhile, Swedish Princess Victoria will visit Bangladesh as a goodwill ambassador for UNDP from March 18 to 21. He is scheduled to visit Koira on March 19 as part of his tour. He will talk to the beneficiaries of rainwater harvesting in the grounds of Nayani Yagya Mandir in Maheshwaripur Union of Upazila. Dressing up is going on on this occasion.

Khandkar Yashir Arefin, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna, said Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria will stay in Bangladesh on March 18–21 as UN Goodwill Ambassador. On March 19, he will visit the Koira Upazila of Khulna, a coastal region adjacent to the Sundarbans in the southernmost part of Bangladesh. At this time, he will inaugurate the Madinabad Smart Post Center along with witnessing the quality of life of local people to face the climate situation in the coastal region, gender equality, and the and the transformation of Maharajpur and Maheshwaripur Union Parishads into digitization. Later, Princess Victoria will visit progress in implementing the SDGs and the challenges posed by the ongoing COOR disaster, focusing on the role of the business sector in the area.
OC of Koira Police Station. Mizanur Rahman said that all the preparations have been completed with the guidance and advice of the senior officials upon the arrival of the state guest in Koira. Besides police, RAB, BGB, army, navy, air force, coast guard, and intelligence surveillance have all security measures.
Koira Upazila Executive Officer (Acting), BM Tariq-Uz-Zaman, said, under the guidance of the senior administration, all preparations have been made to welcome the state guests. Security has been given more importance.
