International Desk: After three consecutive days of polling, the election commission of the country started announcing the results on Monday local time in Russia. As of writing this report, Russia’s Election Commission said 50 percent of vote counting had been completed. Among them, the current President Vladimir Putin received 87.34 percent of the votes. His three rivals are not even close.
Meanwhile, Putin has already given a speech. “My victory will make Russia stronger and more effective,” he said at his main election office. He thanked the citizens who came to vote. He also expressed his special gratitude to the Russian soldiers fighting in the Ukrainian war.
Pointing to the West, Putin said that no matter how much they try to scare us, no matter how much they try to suppress our will and our conscience, no one in history has succeeded. They will fail in the future, just as they have failed now.
Putin praised China widely, despite harshly criticizing the West. The Russian president said that relations between China and Russia are strong, and he is sure that they will become stronger in the coming years.
