The Crime Desk: A juvenile gang refers to a group of young people between the ages of 20 and 22 years old or below who organize themselves and conduct various types of criminal activities. The youth gang culture is not limited to the city streets these days; its menacing image can be seen in the countryside as well. According to law enforcement agencies, 34 people have been killed by juvenile gangs in the last two years! Injuries are numerous.
Incidents like theft, robbery, or murder are also being committed by them. From fights among themselves, bloodshed with opponents, drug taking, and trafficking to creating unrest for the common people, everything is being organized through them. The so-called ‘elder brother’ is leading various juvenile gangs. And their reckless teenage gang! They are involved in various crimes, including murder, robbery, extortion, control of tempo station, forcing to take construction materials for buildings, robbery, and riots. Arms and drug trade are not excluded. Common people are the victims.
The environment of Indrakul Secondary School in Indrakul Village of Baufal Upazila of Patuakhali District is very different from ten other schools in the village! There is a huge field for the students to play sports, a flower garden, and rows of trees in front of the school. A heartbreaking incident happened in this charming school a few days ago. Two brilliant students in class 10 of the same school were brutally murdered by some dangerous students in class 9 over a trivial incident.
This event shakes our conscience and gives rise to thousands of questions! At that age, we were busy with studies and sports with friends. We used to fear parents or school teachers for lack of respect, but today, many children do not give importance to parents and do not give teachers the respect they deserve. Big Brother is becoming the guardian of these dangerous teenagers! The brothers are driving these teenagers into the dark world. Incidents of teachers being assaulted by these misguided teenagers are also happening. The consequences for anyone who interferes with their reckless actions are dire.
Conscious circles, or parents, are currently very concerned about juvenile gangs. Doubts about the future of their own young children—keeping them off this path is a big challenge. Our society depends on technology. However, as the good side of technology is making us better, the bad side of technology is also causing damage. Most of the abuse of technology is done by teenagers. Different types of video games and apps like Tik Tok Like or Deep Fake are playing a big role. In the name of TikTok, various anti-social activities and making indecent videos of girls are often arrested by the police.
Even though the law enforcement forces are active against the youth gang, their work does not stop! Through television or newspapers, I see the news of the recklessness of these teenage gangs created in different parts of the country! If they cannot be prevented, epidemics will appear like disasters in the near future. These deviant gangs must not only be prevented, but bringing them back to a healthy lifestyle in the mainstream is also a big challenge!
Family indifference is the biggest factor in teenagers going astray. Also, the lack of religious discipline and moral education is pushing the youth into darkness. The invasion of bad culture or the development of technology may not stop, so we have to adapt to them and create alternative ways.
