Sirajganj Correspondent: In the incident of shooting a third-year student named Arafat Amin Tamal at Shaheed M. Mansur Ali Medical College of Sirajganj, teacher. A case of attempted murder has been filed against Dr. Raihan Sharif. The police also said that the pistol recovered from him was illegal.
On Monday (March 4) at around 12:30 p.m., the victim’s father said. Abdullah Al Amin became the plaintiff and filed a case at the Sadar police station. The Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) confirmed the matter to the media. Sirajul Islam.
Earlier on Monday evening, accused teacher Dr. Raihan Sharif was arrested and taken to the police station from the medical college. The police also said that another case will be filed against him under the Arms Act for illegal possession of weapons.
In the case, the plaintiff said that my son, Arafat Amin Tamal (22), was admitted in the academic year 2021-2022 at Shahid M. Mansoor Ali Medical College, Sirajganj, and is currently studying in the 3rd year. Another 3rd year item test at the Dr. Shaheed M. Mansoor Ali Medical College Academy Building, 4th floor. It was being held in Samoun Noor’s room. At that time, my son’s friend Aktaruzzaman called around 4 p.m. and said, “You come to Sirajganj quickly.” My son, Arafat Amin, is admitted to Tamal Hospital. I immediately left Bogra and came to Sirajganj to see my son in a critical condition in the surgery department of Sirajganj Medical College Hospital. When asked about the incident, my son Arafat Amin Tamal’s classmates and many of his classmates said that the accused is a lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine. He always behaves harshly toward the teachers. He always used to come to the class with weapons and daggers in his bag and leave the weapons on the table to lecture the class. He intimidated and threatened to shoot students if they did not come to class with firearms. During the examination today, around 3 p.m., the accused suddenly got excited and scolded the students unnecessarily. At one point of argument, he took out a pistol from his bag and fired to kill my son, seriously injuring my son in the upper right thigh.
He also mentioned in the case that when the classmates wanted to take my son to the emergency department for treatment, the accused raised his arms and threatened everyone, saying, If you take him to the emergency department for treatment, I will shoot you all. Immediately during the examination, my son’s friends called the National Emergency Service at 999. At the Sirajganj police station, DB went to the spot and took the accused to the police station with weapons.
Sirajganj Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md. Sirajul Islam, said that the victim student’s father filed a case against the teacher as a plaintiff. The accused will be shown arrested in that case.
The OC said the firearm recovered from him was illegal. Another case will be filed against the teacher under the Arms Act.
By the way, Arafat Amin Tamal, a student of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj, was shot by the college teacher, Dr., on Monday (March 4) afternoon. Raihan Sharif. In this incident, the students protested, demanding justice for the accused teacher. Later in the evening, police arrested him and took him to the police station. A pistol was recovered from him. The accused, Dr. Rayhan, is a teacher in the community medicine department of Sharif College.
The Ministry of Health has already formed a 3-member investigation committee for this incident. Dr. Additional Director General (Administration) of the Department of Health is on the committee. Bayazid Khurshid Riaz has been summoned. The inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within the next three working days.
