Lohagara Correspondent: Allama Abul Barakat Muhammad Fazlullah (R.A.), one of the leading scholars of the Indian subcontinent, was a transient great man of multidimensionality. He is a Muhaddith, Mufassir, Mufti, Islamic thinker, Urdu, Arabic, Persian and Bengali shayer (poet), literary, writer and translator. He was a student of the legendary Muslim mystic Hazrat Allama Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri (RA) and the ‘Muride Khas’ of Hakimul Ummat Hazrat Allama Ashraf Ali Thanvi (RA). Highly personable and the greatest of his age, this scholar was a symbol of unity and an inspiration for leadership and service. Today Saturday (November 19) in Lohagara’s traditional religious educational institution Chunati Hakimiya Kamil (Honours-Masters) Madrasah, Allama Fazlullah Foundation and Anjumane Tolabaye Zakeen (Alumni Council) inaugurated the expanded mosque, the dedication of Bukhari and Muslim Sharif, Allama Fazlullah ( (Rah.)’s biographical book and unveiling of several books and second place holders in Kamil Combined Merit List who have obtained Ph.D degree among former students of Madrasa, in the chief guest’s speech, Shaikhul Hadis, Chairman of IIUC Board of Trustees, Parliament of Satkania-Lohagara Constituency, Prof. Dr. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi said this.

He said, coming in the presence of this sage, anyone could not be impressed. He was much more modern than his time. He has written a new history by changing the conventional ideas and old history. He roamed freely in every branch of knowledge and produced many valuable books. Even theater and music were not excluded from the list of his thirst for knowledge. Bangladesh Islamic Foundation has published many manuscripts written by him, including Banganubad of the reliable hadith book ‘Shamayel Tirmizi’. The book ‘Yuktir Kashthi Pathre Islam’ written by him is also going to be published anew. He also wrote 19 other books on various subjects. Shaikhul Hadith Professor Dr. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi said, Allama Abul Barakat Muhammad Fazlullah (1898-1979) completed his education from India’s famous religious educational institution Mazharul Uloom Saharanpur and served as the principal of Calcutta Akara Aliya Madrasah (1922 to 1942) for 20 years. After that, he engaged in the service of Amrityu Ilme Deen as Najeme A’la (Director General) at Chunti Hakimiya Alia Madrasa in Lohagara Upazila of Chittagong. Along with the pursuit of knowledge, he did not keep himself free from the political climate of the time.
He said that he had good relations with the best political figures like famous Sher Bangla politician AK Fazlul Haque, Khawaja Nazimuddin, Chowdhury Mohammad Ali. With his singular efforts, Sir Tunnabi (PBUH) became a meeting place for devout Muslims irrespective of their sects in the Mahfil initiated by Hazrat Maulana Hafeez Ahmad (R.A.), Shah Sahib of Chuntir. Aliya and Qawmi institutionalized the mahfil by inviting thematic wajs of scholars. From the beginning to the end of the daily mahfil, he sat in the director’s chair and supervised the mahfil.
Professor Dr. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi MP said, numerous muhaddis, mufachirs, distinguished educators and researchers have been created from Chunati Hakimiya Kamil Madrasah, the oldest religious education center in Bangladesh, famous for its natural beauty. The number of alumni who have obtained Ph.D. degrees is about half a hundred. He termed the Madrasa Alumni Council ‘Anjumne Tolbaye Pashkeen’ as an excellent attempt to bond love between the past and present students and said that this Anjumne Tolbaye Pashkeen is the best example of the role that former students can play in various ways in the development and preservation of the traditions of the educational institution. For nearly seven decades, this organization has played a role in the development of madrasas in various ways. ‘Anjuman’ is an exemplary example and model for alumni of other educational institutions of the country. Claiming himself lucky to be a student of this madrasa, he said, the sky-yellow dreams of youth started from this madrasa. From here I dreamed of becoming a good person, a beautiful future. From here I have dreamed of getting educated in higher education to brighten the face of my parents, neighbors and country. In the presence of the country’s top scholars before the meeting. Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi MP imparted the lessons of Bukhari, Muslim Sharif to students of Kamil class.
