A journalist was injured by Razaka’s son in Banskhali

Banshkhali Correspondent: There was an attack on a journalist named Nazrul Islam while asking rent from a tenant in Banshkhali, Chittagong, in which at least 4 people, including Nazrul Islam and 3 women, were injured. Later, the victim filed a case in this regard.

The attack took place on February 8 (Thursday) at around noon in the Maulvi Bazar area of Shekerkhil Upazila. In this regard, the victim, Nazrul Islam, filed a case 165/2024 against three people as the plaintiff in the Banskhali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

The accused in the case are Ataur Rahman (35), son of Chaidul Alam (35), son of Shafiul Alam; Shah Jahan (30), son of deceased Ali Ahmed, of Ward No. 8 of Helon; and Shekherkhil UP. Manik (40).

Among the injured are Chakhina Begum, daughter of deceased Roshan Ali; Hashina Begum, wife of Sohail Rana; and Chenuara Begum, wife of Nazrul Islam. Injured Nazrul Islam is said to be under treatment as his condition is serious; in this regard, it was seen attached to the case application along with the medical certificate of the Upazila Health Complex Hospital.

According to the complaint of the case, Nazrul Islam, son of deceased Roshan Ali of Shekerkhil Ward No. 8, had rented a shop to Ataur Rahman (35), son of Syedul Alam (35) of the same area. The shop tenant, Ataur Rahman, and other accused conspired with sticks, hammers, and knives to demand the outstanding rent of the shop. Nazrul attacked Islam in an ambush at a salon shop in Moulvibazar. It has been mentioned in the complaint of the case that when Chakhina, Hashina, and Chenuara Begum came forward to rescue the injured Nazrul Islam, the accused attacked them too and seriously injured them. Also, during the incident, the accused snatched three mobile phones and 50,000 taka in cash from the injured Nazrul Islam and others, according to the complaint.

When Banskhali police station officer in-charge (OC) Tofail Ahmed was contacted in this regard, he said that no complaint was made at the police station after this incident. If a case is filed in court, We will provide legal assistance.
