EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam recently said that the Bangladesh Awami League will get 48 seats out of 50 reserved seats. And Jatiya Party-Japa will get two seats. Officials of the EC’s election management wing said that the voter list has already been prepared. A vote will not be required if there is no challenger. However, the parties have already announced their lists of candidates. There is no chance of a vote on it.
According to the schedule, nomination papers will be selected on February 19 and 20. Withdrawals can be made until February 25. And the polling date is March 14. If no one withdraws their candidacy, the names of the unopposed candidates will be announced after this period. In the 12th National Assembly elections, Awami League got 224 seats, 14 party partners, Jasad and the Workers Party of Bangladesh, got one, Independents got 62 seats, Kalyan Party got one, and Jatiya Party-Japa got 11 seats. Awami League got 38 seats, Zapa got two seats, and independents got 10 seats out of 50 reserved for women in the numerical proportional system. But as independent 62 candidates supported Awami League, Awami League is getting 48 seats.
