Own Correspondent: Two people, including the driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Lohagara, South Chittagong. The accident took place on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Pahari Jangailla area of Chunti Union of Lohagara Upazila at around 12:30 AM on Friday, February 16. It is said that the collision took place between the Chittagong city-bound bus (number: Dhaka Metro B 14-2828) and the reverse-bound unnumbered truck.
The deceased in this incident are the truck driver Riduan Hossain Maymun (20) and the driver’s assistant Saddam Hossain (27). Abu Mucha Babu (20), a worker on the same truck, was injured in this incident. The victims are said to be residents of Lama Upazila in Bandarban Hills. The seriously injured worker has been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The officer-in-charge of the South Chittagong Highway Police Station, Khan Muhammad Erfan, confirmed the incident. The bus and truck involved in the accident are in the custody of the highway police. The officer-in-charge said that legal action will be taken in this regard.
On the other hand, another accident took place on Friday, February 16, at around 10:30 p.m. on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway at the head of Haji Street in Lohagara upazila. A picnic passenger bus collided with another dump truck. In this incident, some buses and trucks were injured. However, the identity of the injured was not immediately available. According to the sources, the drivers and assistants of the two cars escaped.
