Entertainment Desk: Indian actress Kavita Chowdhury is no more. He breathed his last in a hospital in Gujarat on Thursday (February 16) due to heart disease. He was suffering from cancer. The actress was 67 years old at the time of her death.
Kavitha was a student at the National School of Drama, Delhi. Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, and Angad Desai are his classmates. His career started in 1989 with the serial ‘Udan’. She is seen in the role of Kalyani Singh of the IPS in that series. Her strong and eloquent performance won the hearts of the audience. Kavita responded in the first series. ‘Udan’ is considered a milestone for serials made on women’s empowerment. During the Corona lockdown, ‘Uraan’ was telecast again on Doordarshan screens. Kavita herself was the director and narrator of this series. The series is inspired by the life of IPS Kanchan Chowdhury Bhattacharya; Kavita Chowdhury is the younger sister of Kanchan Chowdhury in real life.
Besides, he was seen in all the popular advertisements. In an advertisement for a popular detergent powder, he explained that buying cheap things is not the same thing as buying good things.
Kavitha’s close friend, Suchitra Varma, said that the actress was suffering from cancer. He was also undergoing chemotherapy. A friend of the actress said that she was in a lot of trouble. In Suchitra’s words, ‘I am devastated by losing him. There was no chance to meet him again. I did not know that his physical condition would suddenly deteriorate so much.
Angad Desai, a friend of the late actress, said, ‘Me, Kavita, Anupam, and Satish, we used to study together in NSD. She was a good person as well as a good actress. It’s not just a loss of friends; it’s a loss to the industry.’
Actress-politician Smriti Irani expressed her grief and wrote on social media, “For some people, ‘Udan’ was just a series.” For me, it was a call to free myself from difficult situations.’
