Own Correspondent: Chunti Union Parishad Chairman Zainul Abedin, alias Janu Company, and his son Upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Ershadur Rahman Riyad of South Chittagong’s Lohagara Upazila have held a press conference to protest various conspiracies and misinformation.
The press conference was organized at 11:30 a.m. on February 14 at the Chunati Union Parishad Auditorium. In a written statement, Chunati UP Chairman said that a group has been conspiring against him and his family in various ways. The conspirators are bent on tarnishing the longstanding reputation of him and his family.
He strongly protested the conspiracy and propaganda of the conspirators in the press conference. In a written statement, he said that completely false and baseless news has been spread in newspapers and magazines regarding the cutting of a mountain. However, he and Chhatra League leader Riyad are not and were not involved in any hill cutting in the area.
The hill allegedly cut in the Chunti area is personal to a woman named Imratul Hasnat. It is reprehensible to associate his name and the BCL leader’s name with this personal mountain cutting. In an interview, the woman’s father made it clear that UP Chairman and Chhatra League leader Riyad had no involvement in cutting the hill. The chairman of Chunti UP said that this press conference was organized to clear up the confusion caused by the officials of the upazila administration, including the residents of Chunti and Lohagara.
Chunti Union Awami League President Shah Alam Paltu, who was present at the press conference, said that Zainal Abedin (JNU Company) was elected chairman of Chunti UP for three consecutive terms and a member of the Lohagara Upazila Awami League Executive Committee.
He strongly protested and condemned various machinations and propaganda against the chairman. He urged everyone to be vigilant about those involved in conspiracies and propaganda. Lohagara Upazila Tanti League president Md. Nashir Uddin, Chhatra League leader Ershadur Rahman Riyad, and most of the members of Chunti Union Parishad were present in the press conference.
