Dhaka Bureau: The main program of the 53rd convocation of Dhaka University (DU) has started with a record number of graduates.
The convocation started on Saturday (November 19) from 12 noon in three venues including the central playground of the university. A record number of 30 thousand 348 graduates are participating in it. This time 153 gold medals will be awarded. Moreover, 97 PhD, 2 DBA and 35 MPhil degrees will be awarded in the convocation.

The procession of the Chancellor and the President took place at 11:55 am on Saturday. The President arrived at the stage at 12 noon. After the national anthem, the Chancellor announced the opening of the convocation at 12:01.
On the occasion of the convocation, a festive atmosphere prevails in the entire campus. Dressed in gowns, hats on their heads, graduates share the joy of convocation. After the academic activities of Dhaka University started on July 1, 1921, the first regular convocation of the university during the British period was held on February 22, 1923.
