City reporter: RAB-7 arrested 30 transport extortionists in various stations of Chittagong City. On Tuesday (February 6), several RAB raiding teams conducted the operation from morning to noon.
The captain of RAB-7, Lt. Col. Mahbub Alam, told a press briefing at the RAB camp in Chandgaon of the city in the evening that several organized syndicates were extorting en masse from various vehicles, including buses, trucks, and CNG auto-rickshaws, at the busiest stations in different areas of Chittagong city. Out of this, the extortionist syndicate extorts Tk 40 lakh per month from the Kaptai Road Head Area alone.
He said that several RAB teams have entered the field this morning to catch this extortionist gang. In this operation, 30 extortionists were caught red-handed by carrying out special operations in the Kaptai Roadhead, Balur Tal, Oxygen, AK Khan, and Alankar areas of the city. Later, they also revealed the names of their godfathers. He said that the operation of the RAB is going on to arrest these godfathers.
Further legal action against those arrested is underway. RAB captain Lt. Col. Mahbub Alam confirmed that the operation against extortionists will continue.
