Dhaka Bureau: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the country’s ambassador over the death of a mortar shell used in Myanmar’s internal conflict on the border.
On Tuesday (February 6), Myanmar’s ambassador to Dhaka, Aung Kyaw Moe, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Fighting between the army and the insurgent group Arakan Army continues in Myanmar’s Rakhine state. Intermittent heavy firing was heard from across the border. This conflict between the two sides of Rakhine is increasing anxiety on the border with Bangladesh.
In such a situation, 117 border guards from Myanmar have fled to Bandarban in the last three days. They were disarmed and taken into the custody of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Myanmar has already contacted Bangladesh to take back those border guards who took refuge in Bandarban.
Yesterday, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud told reporters in his office that Bangladesh has uninterrupted communication with Myanmar. The State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar contacted the Ambassador of Bangladesh on Monday morning. They will take back their citizens. Take back their border guards too.
