City Reporter: The Chittagong Education Board has given scholarships to 925 people based on the results of the HSC examination in 2023. Among them, 91 people received merit scholarships, and 834 got general scholarships. The list of scholarship recipients was published on the Chittagong Education Board’s website on Sunday in a circular signed by Secretary Prof. Narayan Chandra Nath. Out of the 91 merit scholarship recipients, 45 are from the science department, 23 from business education, and 23 from the humanities. Out of 834 general scholarship holders, 417 students are from the science department, 209 students are from business education, and 208 students are from the humanities department. There are equal numbers of male and female students among the scholarship holders.
Merit students will be given 825 taka monthly and 1 thousand 800 taka per year. And general scholarship students will get Tk 375 per month and Tk 750 once a year.
According to the notification, scholarship students will get the opportunity to study without a salary. If any government-approved educational institution demands any monthly salary from scholarship students, disciplinary action will be taken against the head of that educational institution.
The scholarship is valid from July 2023 until the duration of the course. Among these, a five-year scholarship will be given to those studying medical, four years to those studying technical and agricultural courses, LLB honors courses, and degree honors courses, and three years to those studying degree-pass courses.
The terms of the scholarship state that the scholarship will be awarded subject to the good conduct, regular attendance, and satisfactory academic progress of the students. In any case, irregular students will not get scholarships.
The number, rate, and duration of scholarships are fixed. However, if necessary, the government can change or cancel it without giving any reason. Scholarship money will be sent to the bank through EFT in the GTUP system. The scholarship expenditure will be met from the scholarship or merit scholarship section of the current fiscal year’s revenue budget.
The Chittagong Education Board HSC exam results were announced on November 26. The pass rate was 74.45 percent. 6 thousand 339 got a GPA of 5; 1 lakh 3 thousand 248 students from 279 colleges participated in the HSC examination held in 2023. 75 thousand 903 passed.
