Jhenaidah Correspondent: A traditional bullock cart race was held in the field of Moladanga village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. The competition runs from morning to afternoon on Wednesday (January 17).
It has been seen on the ground that thousands of people have thronged to watch the competition in Konkan, ignoring the cold from the morning. There is a festival in Moladanga village. Competitions are organized in open fields after harvesting the rice of the Aman season. Women, men, and children from a few nearby villages also appeared on the field with enthusiasm. People come from far and wide. On this occasion, various food stalls and stalls for children are set up.
A spectator named Shariful Islam said that he came to watch the competition with his little son. He has seen this competition in different fields before. But I came to this field to show the child. This game is now missing.
Ashraf Ali, president of the organizing committee, said that now most of the land has been turned into tri-crops, so the field is not available. That’s why this competition is not seen much now. This arrangement has been made to entertain the people of the village. To maintain the rural tradition, it will be organized in the future.
24 cars participated in this year’s competition. Among them, Walid Hossain from Bagharpara, Jessore, won first place. Sajib Hossain from Chougacha, Jessore, secured 2nd place, and Sagar Hossain from Syedpur, Syedpur, got 3rd place. In the afternoon, Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar distributed the award. Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Shibli Nomani and others were present to watch the competition.
1st place winner gets a big goat, 2nd place gets a small goat, and 3rd place gets a bicycle.
