Since the establishment of the university in 2001, most of the vice chancellors have been appointed by relatives of unqualified people from the area.
Recently, the current vice chancellor of the university got a job as a section officer. Md. Hamim Al Rashid is the younger son of Shahidur Rashid Bhuiya. Hamim has recently completed his studies at a private university.
Dr. Md. His elder son, Asadullah Hill Kafi, got the job while he was the Vice-Chancellor of Shahidur Rashid University. Who is currently working as Deputy Chief Farm Superintendent. Not only that, his niece Sazia Afrin also got a job during her tenure as vice chancellor. Sazia Afrin is currently the Section Officer of the Pathology Department of the University. Many people at the university have expressed their anger at being given jobs one by one by their own families. Not only that, the daughter-in-law of the vice chancellor has applied for the post of computer operator. It is being discussed in various quarters of the university that the vice chancellor can secure the job of his daughter-in-law by misusing his power.
Several senior teachers and officials of the university said that the Vice-Chancellor does not like it if the officers have a post-graduate degree from a private university when they are promoted, but his (the Vice-Chancellor’s) son got a job after completing his Honors-Masters from a private university. Several officials alleged that the vice chancellor’s elder son was taken to rehab centers at various times. As a result, he got paid even though he was absent from the office for months. There is a tendency for the elder son to show his father’s power and not hold office properly. Besides, there are allegations of misbehavior with students and employees at various times.
The oral examination for the recruitment of teachers was conducted a year ago, and the syndicate meeting ended in the name of verification. However, the syndicate meeting was held on the evening of December 18, immediately after the completion of the appointment of officers, and the officers were joined on December 19 without any verification. Previous vice chancellors have done the same: Kamal Uddin Ahmed was appointed as the sixth Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University on August 14, 2016. Dr. Kamal Uddin’s daughter, nephew, and brother-in-law are also working as teachers. Allegedly, while the vice chancellor, his nephew, Mahbub appointed his son-in-law as an expert on the Vaiba Board to appoint him as Assistant Professor. Professor Sadat Ullah, a former professor in the university’s Agricultural Extension and Information Systems Department, served as Shekribir’s vice chancellor for the second time from 2012 to 2016. The late Vice-Chancellor’s brother-in-law is the Controller of Examinations of the University, and his brother-in-law’s wife is in charge of the Deputy Registrar. At that time, these two people were appointed to the university. In addition, the daughter of the vice chancellor’s elder brother also got a job at the university. Officials alleged that vice chancellors kept the matter secret even after giving jobs to close relatives. As a result, you cannot know even after a long time of recruitment. In this case, the person who got the job in the lobby also maintains strict privacy in terms of identity.
