Dhaka Bureau: The BTRC has been instructed to stop all unregistered mobile phones in the country. BTRC has a database and automatic registration system for mobile handsets manufactured, assembled, and imported in the country.

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak gave this instruction in a meeting with senior officials of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) at Agargaon in the capital on Tuesday (January 16).

The State Minister also said, ‘In the next five years, there is no alternative to take initiatives to increase export income and investment, create employment and increase revenue in the telecommunication and information technology sector in order to lay the foundation for Smart Bangladesh. During the current global economic crisis, a common technology-based solution to increase exports, investment, and employment and maintain law and order can benefit the country in many ways.

He also said that there has been a revolutionary change in the provision of services through “identity” verification and authentication services. Each database needs to be coordinated with each other to make the service more accessible.
