Fire in the Furniture Market: 4 shops and 1 saloon gutted

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A furniture market caught fire at Eidgaon in Cox’s Bazar. Four shops and a saloon were gutted in the fire.

Obaidul Haque, president of the market management committee, said that the incident took place in Islamabad Dula Fakir market in Eidgaon on Sunday (January 14).

He said that around 7:30 in the morning, there was a sudden fire in the market owned by Rafiqul Islam on the east side of the market. As the market was made of tin and bamboo fences, the fire spread quickly. Four shops and one saloon were burned. Around 40–45 lakh rupees have been damaged.

Team Leader of the Ramu Fire Service. Hasan Chowdhury said that it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit. Efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage. Fire service personnel reached the spot quickly and brought the fire under control.
