Khulna Correspondent: Three policemen have been arrested in Khulna in connection with the theft of gold from a smuggler in India. At the same time, the police also arrested the trafficker. Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Saltachara police station arrested them last Friday night.

It is known that last Friday, at around 12:30 noon, SI MD set up a check post at the Sachibuniya Bishwa Road intersection of Saltachara police station in the city. Mustafa Zaman, along with the officer and the force, came to know on the basis of secret information that a person with illegal gold bars would enter Khulna metropolis in a Tungipara Express bus. After receiving the news, without informing the higher authorities, SI Mustafa Zaman, along with ASI Md. Ahsan Habib and Constable Md. In collaboration with Murad Hossain, Sachibunia operated a check post on the paved road in front of the electric pole on the south side of the highway from Rupsa Bridge to Zero Point. At that time, the police saw a person who got off the Tungipara transport and started walking fast. When the police asked him to stop, he tried to run away. After 2:00 p.m., policemen were able to arrest the man. At that time, when he was asked the reason for his escape, he admitted that he had gold bars. Then a secret pocket made by cutting the border below the belt of accused Vyasdev De’s jeans pant was seen. Vyasdev hands six gold bars wrapped in khaki scotch tape from his pocket to SI Mustafa Zaman. The policemen then intimidated the accused, Vyasdev Dey, and took three gold bars. Later, they released Vyasadev De with the remaining three gold bars. The value of three stolen gold bars is around Tk 30 lakh.
According to sources, later, senior police officials learned about the matter. When senior police officials interrogated the three policemen on Friday evening, they admitted the truth of the incident. Then the accused three policemen were ordered to be arrested. In this case, the accused, Vyasdev Dey, gave a confessional statement in court describing his involvement in the offense under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
OC of Saltachara Police Station. Hafizur Rahman said, “The gold trafficker has been arrested under the Special Powers Act and after the case against the three accused policemen under Section 392 of the Penal Code.” They were sent to jail after being produced before the court on Saturday.
He also said that the arrested policemen have been temporarily suspended. Apart from this, a 5-day remand has been applied to the court for extensive interrogation of the accused and to reveal the mystery of whether anyone else is involved in the incident or not.
