Dhaka Bureau: The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) identifying 10,300 candidates as at risk (very important) in this year’s national elections. The matter was informed by the responsible sources of the EC on Tuesday. In this year’s national elections, voting will be held in 42 thousand 149 centers.
It is known that 6 lakh, 87 thousand members of the law and order forces will be deployed in the polling stations in this election. Out of which, there will be 2 lakh and 15 thousand members in important polling stations. And a total of 11 crore, 96 lakh, 91 thousand, and 633 voters will get the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
Sources said that each polling station in the country will have a team of 15–17 members of the law and order force. A team of 15–16 people, including two armed policemen, one Ansar with weapons, one Ansar with weapons or sticks, 10 Ansars, and one or two village policemen with sticks, will provide security at all general polling stations outside the metropolitan area. But in each important polling station (a vulnerable station), there will be a team of 16–17 people, including three policemen with arms.
A 15-member security team will provide security at polling stations inside the metropolitan area. Out of which, three armed policemen, one armed Ansar, another armed Ansar with a weapon or baton, and a team of 10 Ansar members will ensure the security of each polling station. However, important polling stations will be guarded by a 16-member security team, and the number of armed policemen will be four instead of three.
