The mother-daughter duo became the first Bangladeshis to be nominated for the world’s most prestigious music award for the song ‘Jago Piya’ from Berklee Indian Ensemble’s ‘Shuruat’ album.

Berklee Indian Ensemble’s debut album ‘Shuruat’ features songs by Armin Musa as well as Asian musicians including legendary Ustad Zakir Hossain, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash.
Armin Musa, one of the most popular music artists in Bangladesh today and a Bangladeshi student of Berklee College of Music and Visva Bharati’s trainee in Indian classical music, won critical acclaim for several songs including ‘Bhramar Koyo Giya’, ‘Lona Deyal’. Armin formed a singing group called ‘Grasshopper Choir’.
His mother Nasheed Kamal is the elder granddaughter of famous Bengali folk singer Abbasuddin Ahmed. He has been associated with music skillfully for more than four decades. Besides Nazrul Sangeet Dr. Nasheed Kamal is widely known as one of the prominent researchers and actresses of Bengali folk songs.
