Teknaf representative: Abdur Rahman Badi, the former member of parliament of Cox’s Bazar-4 (Ukhia-Teknaf) constituency, claimed to have paid Tk 4 crore in taxes to the government. He said this at the Cox’s Bazar District Returning Officer and District Commissioner’s office on Monday afternoon. On this day, Abdur Rahman Badi, along with his wife, Awami League-nominated candidate of Cox’s Bazar-4 Ukhia-Teknaf Constituency, and current Member of Parliament Shaheen Akhter, came to the symbol distribution ceremony.
At the end, facing the questions of the journalists, Badi said, I have paid four crores of tax to the government in the fiscal year 2022–23.Not only the tax but also the surcharge on top of the tax. So my wealth will not increase, and who will? Find out from the papers of other MPs in Cox’s Bazar how much tax they have paid to the government. Then you will understand.
He also said that four of the competitors in the boat symbol are with me. If they do not have the capacity to hold public meetings in large pandals, they can come to our public meetings and address the people. I will give them that opportunity. Those who lobbied against Shaheen Akhtar to get the boat are not actually partying; this is their business.
They wanted to trade with me first. But I have made it clear to them that I will work for whomever Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gives the boat. The Prime Minister has given a boat to my wife, Shaheen Akhtar, to decide the fate of people and establish basic rights. We will try our best to win and gift this seat to her.
