Dhaka Bureau: Miscreants set Mohanganj Express on fire at Tejgaon railway station in the capital. The fire service has recovered the bodies of four people so far in this incident.
The fire service said that the incident took place after 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday (December 19).
Officer-in-Charge of Fire Service Headquarters (Media Cell), Md. Shahjahan Shikder, said that at 5:40 am, we got the news that miscreants set fire to three compartments of the Mohanganj Express at Tejgaon railway station. Our three units extinguished the fire around 7:30 a.m. At this time, the bodies of four people were recovered.
Two of the dead have been identified. They are Nadira Akhter Poppy (32) and her 3-year-old son Yashin. The other two are men. Their identity is not known. Four bodies are in police custody.
Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohsin said that the train was coming to Dhaka from Netrakona. Passengers saw the fire when the train crossed the airport station and reached Khilkshe. Then the driver stopped the train at Tezgaon.
Police said, after dousing the fire and recovering the bodies, the train was sent to Kamalapur railway station.
