The Crime Desk: Today, December 18, is ‘Bangladesh Supreme Court Day’. On this occasion, the Supreme Court administration has organized a discussion meeting in the inner court yard of the Supreme Court.
The president will be the chief guest of the event. Sahabuddin. The program will be held today at 3 p.m.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan will preside over the event. Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque will be present as a special guest.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Bar Association has organized a discussion meeting to mark the day. Supreme Court Bar Secretary Abdun Noor Dulal said that the discussion meeting started at 11:30 in the auditorium of the association.
On October 25, 2017, the full court meeting of the Supreme Court decided to celebrate Supreme Court Day on December 18 every year.
On that day, as informed by the Supreme Court, it was unanimously decided in the full court meeting that, according to the constitution of independent Bangladesh, the first day when the High Court proceedings started (December 18, 1972) would be observed as ‘Bangladesh Supreme Court Day’. Since that decision, Supreme Court Day has been celebrated on December 18 every year.
This day is being celebrated for the seventh time.
