Khagrachari Representative: The Bangladesh Army is working in the mountainous areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts with the motto ‘Peace, Harmony, and Development’ in front. The Bangladesh Army has always stood by the side of the people who are dying due to a lack of treatment, especially in the remote areas of the three hill districts. Even during an epidemic, the people of Durgam get the army.
However, the name of fear for the people of Durgam is extortion. Terrorists of four organizations—JSS (original), JSS (reformed), UPDF (original), and UPDF (reformed)—regularly collect money from them. If they do not pay the subscription, their nighttime sleep becomes haram. They came late at night, attacked the house, and tortured.
Demanding the elimination of these terrorist extortionists, the hill-Bengalis living in remote areas said that there has been a lot of development in the hills during the tenure of the current government. The touch of development has reached every house. We are also benefiting from it. But if extortionists are eradicated, we can live in much greater peace. We are also citizens of this country. Why should they pay the subscription? This representative of Ittefaq went to the remote area of Sarzamin Hills and talked to the concerned people.
During the tenure of the present government, there has been great development in the three hill districts. However, some areas are still inaccessible. People living in these areas are deprived of many things, including medical services. Currently, in the winter weather, there are various diseases besides respiratory problems: colds, coughs, and fevers. However, the army medical team is providing them with regular medical care. All types of patients, including heart patients, are being treated. Sometimes BGB also provides medical services to poor people. The Jurachhari area of Rangamati district is still inaccessible. During Corona, the army provided medical services to the people there by helicopter. Some unions in Kaptai Upazila are inaccessible. Bilaichhari is also a remote area. Some areas in Bandarban and Khagrachari are inaccessible. The army is always there to provide medical care to the remote residents. Pahari-Bengalis praised the role of the army in the hilly areas and said that the members of the army are providing all kinds of services to the people. They are providing free medical services by forming medical teams in neighborhoods. In addition to security, he conveys news to the army members but does not delay in getting their services. They get to them during any calamity, including landslides, storms, and typhoons.
From a news spread on social media, the Bangladesh Army learned about Garichang Chakma, who was living an inhumane life due to a lack of medical treatment. Gorichang Chakma was recently bitten by a poisonous snake on his left leg while he was out for jum cultivation. Due to a lack of proper treatment, the muscles of his left leg rotted. Seeing this pathetic condition of Gorichang Chakma, many wrote on social media to arrange proper treatment for him. Responding to the call of humanity, the Bangladesh Army came forward in Bilaichhari Zone. The medical team from Bilaichari Zone examined the patient on the ground and started treating him. For better treatment of the patient, the medical team completed the debridement and skin grafting of the patient at Chittagong Medical College Hospital’s surgery department and later at the burn and plastic surgery department. The medical team of Bilaichari Zone was able to return Gorichang Chakma to his normal life after four long months through close monitoring and care of the operated part. Gorichang Chakma is very happy to be back to normal life again. He and his family expressed immense gratitude to the Bangladesh Army. The Army has been providing treatment to such critical patients as Gorichang Chakma every month. Those who are from remote areas where it is not possible to get medical treatment in any medical college had to die without treatment. The army regularly monitors them and takes them to the Medical College Hospital for treatment of critical patients. Many have returned to a normal life after receiving treatment. Apart from the medical services, the Bangladesh Army has also continued to distribute relief materials to the underprivileged, poor, helpless, and distressed people in remote areas.
