Narsingdi Correspondent: The death toll in a three-way collision between two buses and a pick-up on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Raipura in Narsingdi has increased to 3.
Among the 10 injured in this accident, Md. Another person named Kamal Mia (35) died. He died in Narsingdi area on the way to take him to Dhaka for treatment with serious injuries. He is the son of Ismail Mia of Chauragudha village of Sarail upazila.
On Tuesday (November 15) at around 3:30 in the morning, Sanand Das (55) of Dighirpara village of Kalikach shrine of Sarail upazila and Md. of the same upazila were killed in this accident. Renu Mia (66) died.
Md. Kamal Mia’s death has been confirmed by Kalikachch UP member Md. Saidur Rahman.
He said that Kamal Mia died in Narsingdi area on the way to Dhaka with serious injuries. The relatives took the body home.
The other injured are pickup driver Abdul Jalil (55), assistant Mo Mahmud Ali (33), Keshav Das (25), Sudhansho Das (45), Sabuj Mia (33) of Dharmatirth village. They all belong to the same upazila and are fishmongers by profession. The injured are undergoing treatment at various hospitals including Bhairav.
According to the highway police and local sources, a BRTC bus was standing on the side of the road in Nilkuti area of the upazila in the early morning due to a burst wheel. At that time, a three-way collision took place between a bus bound for Habiganj from Dhaka and a pickup loaded with fish bound for Dhaka from Sarail in Brahmanbaria. Two people died on the spot.
Officer-in-charge of Bhairav Highway Police Station. Mozammel Haque said that the bodies of the deceased are at the Bhairab Highway Police Station. Three vehicles have been impounded and brought to the police station.
