Dhaka Bureau: Leaders of 14 parties will hold a meeting at night regarding seat sharing in the 12th National Assembly elections. It is reported that the meeting will be held at the MP Hostel (Members of Parliament) in the Sangsad Bhavan area on Sunday, December 10, at 8 p.m.

When asked about this, Shirin Akhtar, general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSAD), a member of the 14th party, told the media that we will hold a meeting at night to discuss seats in the 12th National Assembly elections.

There are 8 members of parliament from 14 parties led by the Awami League in the current parliament. This time, the parties have not yet come to a final decision regarding seat concessions.

Meanwhile, alliance sources said that Rashed Khan Menon (Workers Party) Barisal-2, Hasanul Haque Inu (JSAD) Kushtia-2, Anwar Hossain Manju (National Party-JP) Pirojpur-2, and Syed Najibul Bashar were from 14 parties led by the Awami League. Earlier, on December 4, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with the top leaders of 14 parties at Ganobhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, from 6 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Although there was a decision to hold coalition elections, there was no seat distribution or agreement with the partners. A committee headed by Amir Hossain Amu, spokesman and coordinator of the alliance, was formed to look into the matter.

On the night of December 5, a meeting was held at Amur’s residence, led by Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon and Jasdar president Hasanul Haque Inu, former and current members of parliament from both parties. In the meeting, they tried to convince the coordinator of the alliance by presenting various arguments in favor of the concession of seats. Amu said that Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader will convey the matter, and Obaidul Quader will convey it to Sheikh Hasina.

Apart from the Awami League, the current partner parties of the 14 parties are: Bangladesh Works Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASD), Demokrati Party, Samyavadi Dal (ML), Tarikat Federation, Communist Center, NAP (Mozaffar), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASD, Rezaur), Jatiya Party (JP, Manju), Democratic Labor Party, and Mass Azadi League.
