Kushtia Correspondent: A student named Sagar Chandra Biswas (23) committed suicide after breaking up with a teacher in Kumarkhali, Kushtia. Police recovered his body and sent it to the Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The police recovered the hanging body of the student from the rented house in the Serkandi area of the municipality on Friday night. His family claimed that Sagar committed suicide by hanging himself after failing to fall in love with a teacher. The deceased Sagar Chandra Biswas is the son of Manoranjan Biswas of village Dari Maliat of Sadaki Union of Kumarkhali Upazila. He was a fourth-semester student at Kushtia Polytechnic Institute.
Sagar’s mother said, “My son had an affair with a teacher of a polytechnic institute in Kushtia. The relationship broke up recently due to a lack of progress. Unable to accept the matter, Sagar became like a mental patient. For that, Sagar went to college several times and requested that madam try to fix the relationship. But there was no result. Sagar used to wake up every afternoon due to sleeping pills. If he doesn’t wake up, I call out first. I tried to wake him up by calling Sagar’s mobile phone. After not getting any response, I broke the door, entered, and saw Sagar hanging from the ceiling fan. Unable to bear the separation of love from Madam, Sagar committed suicide by hanging himself.
Some of Sagar’s friends said that Sagar had a deep love affair with one of our teachers. Photos of the two were also posted on Facebook. A few months ago, when their relationship deteriorated, Sagar tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills. Sagar became mentally ill after taking too many sleeping pills.
He called the teacher’s mobile phone several times to talk about it, but she did not receive it. When some teachers of that polytechnic institute were contacted, they said that they did not know anything about this.
Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akibul Islam said the college student’s body was recovered and sent to the Kushtia Sadar Hospital morgue for a post-mortem. The matter is being investigated.
