Dhaka Bureau: The Election Commission (EC) has approved the proposal sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the transfer of officers-in-charge (OC) of 338 police stations in the country.
The approval was given on Thursday (December 7). This information is known from EC sources.
Earlier, the EC had written to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the phased transfer of OCs to all police stations in the country. Following this, the list of transferred OCs for 338 police stations was sent to the EC from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath informed the media that the transfer proposal had been received on Wednesday (December 6).
On November 30, the Election Commission directed the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer all Upazila Nirbahi officers and Police Station OCs. For this reason, the organization asks to send a proposal for who will be transferred.
In light of that directive, when the Ministry of Public Administration sent a proposal, the EC approved the transfer of 47 UNOCs in the first step. As many as 20 others are awaiting approval. However, no police station OC was transferred at that time.
