The Crime Desk: Railway authorities have decided to run one more intercity train on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route starting next January. Although three names have been proposed for this new train, the railways have not yet finalized the name. The names are Palangki Express (the old name of Cox’s Bazar), Tarang Express, and Prabal Express.
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said this in a press conference at Railway Bhawan on Wednesday (December 6).
The railway minister said that this train is planned to run on January 1. The proposal will be given to the Prime Minister along with the names. Train movement will start subject to the permission of the Prime Minister.
According to railway sources, the number of this new train from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar will be 815/816. It will depart from Cox’s Bazar at 8 p.m. Chittagong will reach 10:50. It will leave for Dhaka at 11:15, with a 15-minute break there. It will reach Dhaka at 6:43 a.m. Before this, the airport will make a break at the station. And I will leave Dhaka at 6:15 a.m. will reach Chittagong at 11:20. It will leave there at 11:40 AM with a 20-minute break and reach Cox’s Bazar at 3:00 PM. It will stop at the airport station in between.
It is known that this train will have 16 compartments. Among them are two dining cars, six AC chairs, one power car, and seven decorative chairs. The total number of seats will be 780. Among these seats are 330 AC chairs and 450 decorative chairs.
It was also informed in the press conference that the Mongla commuter train will run on the Khulna-Jeshore-Mongla-Jeshore-Khulna route starting in January. This train number is 113-118. Here, one pair of trains will run between Khulna and Jessore and two pairs between Jessore and Mongla. The journey will be halted at Daulatpur, Noapara, Jessore, Mohammadnagar, and Katakhali. The fare for this train is Tk 125 for the general seat, Tk 150 for the seat chair, and Tk 200 for the first seat. It will leave Khulna at 6 p.m. Jessore will reach at 7:10. It will leave Jessore at 7:55 and reach Mongla at 10:25.
