Dhaka Bureau: The influential US magazine Forbes has published a list of the 100 most powerful women in the world this year. The most influential person on this year’s list is European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s name has also appeared on the list. He is in the 46th position on the list. Sheikh Hasina’s position was 42nd on this list last year.
Forbes says the list includes both groundbreaking newcomers and established figures, marking significant progress in women’s global influence. While the list highlights the progress of women, it also raises critical questions about the status of their power.
European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde, US Vice President Kamala Harris, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are in the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Besides, the popular singer and actress Taylor Swift is in fifth place on the list.
The list is divided into six categories: media and entertainment, politics and policy, finance, business, philanthropy, and tech.
