appeal to the Election Commission to get back the candidature

Dhaka Bureau: A total of 731 candidates’ nomination papers have been canceled in the selection of nomination papers for the 12th National Parliament election. Various political parties and independent candidates have started appealing to the Election Commission (EC) to regain their candidature.

This appeal started in the temporary camp in front of the Agargaon election building on Tuesday (December 5) morning. which will continue until December 9. After that, the verdict will be announced through the appeal hearing from December 10 to December 15. 11 booths divided into 11 regions are designated for appeal.

Earlier on Monday (December 4), on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly election, the EC issued a notice regarding the filing, hearing, and settlement of appeals.

According to the EC, if any candidate, bank, or financial institution is aggrieved by the order of the returning officer against the cancellation and acceptance of nomination papers, an appeal must be filed within five days after the selection of nomination papers. That is, from December 5 to December 9, you can file an appeal in the form of a memorandum with the Election Commission. One set of original appeal documents and six sets of copies should be submitted.

According to the schedule announced by the EC, appeals against the decision of the returning officer can be filed and disposed of before the Commission from December 5 to December 15. The deadline for withdrawing candidature is December 17. The returning officers will allot the symbols on December 18. The election campaign will continue till 8 a.m. on January 5. And the voting will be on January 7.
