Dhaka Bureau: The Ministry of Public Administration has started the process of transferring Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) across the country as per the instructions of the Election Commission on the occasion of the upcoming 12th National Parliament Election. A senior official of the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed the transfer. He said, according to the instructions of the Election Commission (EC), the process of UNO transfer has started. The EC spoke about the removal of those who served as UNO for one year. The commissioners are preparing the list as per what the Election Commission has told us.
Earlier, a letter was sent from the Election Commission Secretariat to the Ministry of Public Administration on November 30. It is said that the Election Commission has decided to transfer the Upazila Nirbahi officers in stages for the smooth conduct of the upcoming National Assembly Elections. For this purpose, in the first phase, the Upazila Nirbahi officers who have completed more than one year of service at their current place of work have to send their transfer proposal to another district to the Election Commission by next Tuesday.
It should be noted that 495 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) are performing duties in the field administration across the country. Of the 495 UNOs, 207 have already spent at least one year at their workplace. Of these, 100 have spent two years, and 188 have been on duty for six to nine months.
