Natore Correspondent: Police have arrested her boyfriend Zahid Hasan Saddam (29) in connection with the murder of Mahmuda Akhtar Bithi (26) in Natore’s Lalpur. Zahid admitted that he was killed due to the pressure of marriage.
In this incident, the lover was arrested on Friday night and sent to Nato jail on Saturday.
Zahid Hasan was arrested from the Kamardah area of Ahmedpur in Baraigram, Natore, in a police raid. He is from the village of Kamardah. son of Sohrab Hossain.
The deceased Mahmuda Akhter is the daughter of Amjad Hossain of Barmahati (Nakhrajpara) village in Bithi upazila. He was an ultrasound assistant at Muktar General Hospital, Gopalpur.
Natore Additional Superintendent of Police (Baraigram Circle) Sharif Al Rajeev confirmed the truth of the incident and said that during the initial interrogation, arrested Zahid Hasan frankly admitted to the police about his involvement in the murder of Saddam. According to him, the knife used in the killing was recovered from the bushes near the scene of the incident.
The accused said that the victim, Beethi, had a relationship with Saddam for a long time. At one point, when Beethi pressured Asami Saddam for marriage, Saddam refused and kept making various excuses. Last Thursday evening, Saddam tactfully summoned Beethi. After that, they brutally killed him by cutting his upper body with a sharp knife and left him on the roadside near the Tofakata intersection of the Gopalpur Municipality of Upazila.
Lalpur Police Station OC Md. Ujjwal Hossain said Mahmuda Akhter went home on Thursday afternoon after finishing his duty at Beethi Clinic. On Friday morning, the locals informed the police station after seeing the body in a sugarcane garden in Madhubari Mahalla of Gopalpur municipality of the upazila, and the police reached the spot and recovered the body. The deceased Bithi is the mother of two children. Beethi divorced her husband two years ago. In this incident, the father of the deceased Amjad Hossain filed a case at Lalpur Police Station as the plaintiff against an unknown accused.
