Satkania Correspondent: A mysterious death of a housewife has taken place in the Kaimar Para area of Napit Char in Ward No. 1 of the South Dhemsha Union of Satkania. The in-laws said that they committed suicide by hanging, but the relatives of the deceased claimed that their daughter was killed for dowry.
In this incident, the police interrogated Morshedul Alam and Nanad, sons of the deceased Jalal Ahmed, in the Char Kaimar neighborhood of the barber’s husband. The deceased has been identified as Naima Sultana Nishi (19). She is the daughter of Mohammad Sabuj Mia (Prakash Sabuj Mistry) of the commercial neighborhood of Ward No. 7 of Keuchia Union of the upazila.
The mother of the victim, Shamsunnahar, told the media that although she married her daughter to Morshedul Alam three months ago, she could not pay much to her son-in-law due to a lack of money. As the daughter-in-law demanded 1 lakh rupees, she was paid 22 thousand rupees in the first round. If the land can be sold later, the remaining money is to be paid. Even though the daughter was pregnant, the daughter-in-law was constantly torturing my daughter for money. Last Wednesday (November 22), around 2:00 p.m., he was informed that his daughter had been brought to the hospital. He came to the hospital and found his dead body.
He claimed that the girl’s son-in-law and in-laws killed and hanged his daughter for dowry. He wants an exemplary punishment for them.
Mohammad Tayyab, the uncle of the deceased, said that he drives a dumper car. His niece’s son-in-law saw the bricks being taken down when he took the bricks to the house of his niece’s father-in-law. Her brother and younger sister are carrying the niece in their arms in the car. When I asked what happened, he said that he had fainted, so I am taking him to the hospital. After that, I heard the news of my niece’s death.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Satkania police station, Shahrin Hossain, the post-mortem officer, said that no sign of torture was found in any other part of the body apart from the hanging marks on the neck of the body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station Priton Sarkar told the media that he, along with Additional Superintendent of Police of Satkania Circle Shibli Noman, visited the spot after receiving the news of the housewife’s death. The initial investigation said it was a case of suicide, but the deceased’s husband and Nanad have been interrogated. The body is being sent to the Chittagong Medical College (CMC) hospital morgue for a post-mortem. After receiving the post-mortem report, it will be possible to determine the exact cause of death.
When asked about the complaint of the relatives of the deceased, he said that no one has filed any written complaint so far, and preparations are underway to take appropriate legal action regarding the incident.
