Satkania Correspondent: Miscreants set fire to three passenger buses standing in Satkania. These buses were set on fire while standing at the south end of Satkania Road in the early hours of Monday (November 20).
On receiving the information, Satkania Fire Service personnel threw water and brought the fire under control. Among the buses that were set on fire, two were from Shyamli and one from Hanif Transport.
According to Satkania Fire Service and Thana Police, the drivers park the bus like other days in the field on the west side of the road south of the head of Satkania road on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway. Miscreants set fire to three passenger buses while they were standing there early this morning.
On receiving the information, Satkania Fire Service personnel came to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after a long effort. Before this, various parts inside and outside the bus were burned. On receiving the information, Satkania police station visited the spot.
Local people said that around four in the morning, five boys came with two motorcycles, set fire to three buses, and fled quickly.
The owner of Shyamoli Bus, Sirajul Haque of the Mother Bari area of Kenochia Union, said that after completing the repair work in Chittagong city, he brought two buses and left them here at 12 o’clock on Sunday night. In the morning, people called and said that his car was set on fire. He immediately came and saw that the car was on fire inside and out. By then, the fire service personnel had started working to control the fire.
Senior Station Officer of Satkania Fire Service, SM Humayun Karnayen, said, “On receiving the information about the bus fire in the morning, we quickly went to the spot and started working. After trying for about an hour, I was able to bring the fire under control. Among the buses that were set on fire, 2 were of Shyamli and 1 of Hanif Paribahan.”
He also said, “While the fire was burning, a bus suddenly started and hit the fire service vehicle. It caused some damage to our vehicle.”
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania police station Priton Sarkar said the buses were parked in a field next to the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway south of the Satkania road head. Miscreants set fire in the early morning. Shortly after the fire started, the police and fire service personnel reached the spot and started work to bring the fire under control. As a result, the buses were not damaged much. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
