The Crime Desk: Due to the influence of low pressure, deep circulating clouds continue to form in the North Bay of Bengal area. Due to its effect, gale force winds may blow over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas and sea ports of Bangladesh, said the Meteorological Department. Four seaports in the country have been asked to display local warning signal number three.
This warning signal was given in special notification number 3 from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s storm warning center on Thursday (November 16) morning.
According to the special notification, the low pressure located in the West-Central Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas is moving northward and staying in the same area (15.8 degrees North Latitude and 86.1 degrees East Longitude). It was 955 km southwest of Chittagong sea port, 905 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar sea port, 835 km southwest of Mongla sea port, and 830 km southwest of Payra sea port at midnight last Wednesday. It may move further north-westward and intensify.
The notification also said that deep circulating clouds continue to form in the North Bay of Bengal under the influence of low pressure. Due to its impact, gale-force winds may blow over the North Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas and sea ports in Bangladesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed is 40 km/h within 44 km of the low pressure center, increasing to 50 km/h in gusty or gusty forms. The ocean is rough in the area near the low-pressure center.
In the notification, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra sea ports have been instructed to display local warning signal number 3.
Besides, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to move cautiously close to the coast until further instructions. Along with that, they are prohibited from wandering in the deep sea.
