Dhaka Bureau: The government has taken the initiative to sell products in the open market for low-income people outside the family circle in the capital. Under this, potatoes, onions, lentils, and soybean oil will be sold at subsidized prices through open trucks.
From today, Tuesday, November 14, these daily products will be sold through 30 open trucks every day in the two city corporation areas of Dhaka. It is said that nine thousand families will benefit.
Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, gave this information in a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday. He said that 25 to 30 trucks of lentils, soybean oil, potatoes, and onions will be sold in the capital from Tuesday through TCB. Each person can buy two kg of lentils, two liters of soybean oil, two kg of potatoes, and two kg of onions. About 300 people will be given this product from each truck. These products will be sold outside the TCB family card. As a result, 9 thousand new families will be added to this facility.
He also said that sugar would not be sold for a few days. Sugar will also be included in this program if it is imported.
Tapan Kanti said that for now, this sale will continue on all working days. Closed on Friday and Saturday. However, later, the program will continue on all days of the week. Products will be sold in each area each day, so that people in all areas of the capital can get these products at affordable prices.
