Dhaka Bureau: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal hopes that if nomination papers are submitted online before the upcoming national elections, the election ‘culture of rule-breaking and lawlessness’ will reduce.
The CEC said this by inaugurating the ‘Online Nomination Submission System (ONSS) and Smart Election Management App’ at the Election Commission Building in Agargaon of the capital and urging the candidates and voters to use the online system and app.
According to Habibul Awal, there are many incidents of conflict around the submission of nomination papers before the election. Candidates show up while submitting nominations. This show has become down-culture. Although the culture is good, there is also a crisis here. Using this app will reduce it.
Addressing the representatives of the registered parties present at the app launch, Habibul Awal said that the Online Nomination Submission System (ONSS) is for all candidates. And the Smart Election Management app is for common people.
Although the Online Nomination Submission System (ONSS) and Smart Election Management App have been launched, the Election Commission has also made arrangements for direct submission of nominations to the Returning Officer in the conventional manner.
CEC has also been urged to run a campaign to encourage everyone to use this app.
