Entertainment desk: The final logo of ‘Kanta’ has been unveiled. Before the shooting of the film, the idea was: what could be the typology of this story? At that time, of course, I thought that thorns would be written in the alphabet made of the bones of the human body. Moreover, there must be Bengali characters with unique features. I also thought that the historical background of the film should peek out in the title. Memoirs, Thorns, It’s not a film; it’s a tragedy. It is a periodical journey.
The story ‘Kanta’ by Shahidul Zahir, a very powerful writer of Bengali fiction, was written in 1995. At first, the name of the story was ‘thorn in the mind’. Later, Mr. Zaheer named the social narrative “Kanta.” Akritdar Shahidul Zahir died suddenly in 2008. 2023 has now reached its conclusion. Post-level work on ‘Kanta’ is in progress. And the audience will see the film after a few days—that can be said now.
One of the main reasons for the delay is the budget. It should be remembered that I am not a black market or business producer, but a producer by writing poetry. Producing such an expensive film is not easy. Do I have a lot of money? no So? So what? Do not make pictures? I will make pictures of my will. It’s up to you to watch or not, right? Let me do my job. Those who have supported me with funding have no question about it, nor does the Thorn team. Because they know the reality. There are some people who want to read the entertainment news of the newspaper and keep up with the movie news and want to watch YouTube for free. But now we are not talking about that; we will talk about the logo.
As I said, I was thinking about the logo of this film from the beginning. Most of the covers of my books are done by Dhruv Esh. However, the cover and typography of the first book were drawn by Qayyum Chowdhury. Two or three book covers and typographic designs were done by Sabyasachi Hazra. Day by day, we have passed the manual period in design, and now we have come to the digital period. Anisuzzaman Sohel or Sabyasachi Hazra have great logotypo! Mamun Hossain’s designs also exude a rhythm of their own. I also notice the work of Masuk Helal, Uttam Sen, or Mustafiz Karigar. Artist Qayyum Chowdhury was our teacher; his typography was an asset, an addition to the Bengali alphabet. Artist Shishir Bhattacharya made the logo of Zahidur Rahim Anjan’s ‘Meghmallar’ in free-hand typography. How beautiful!
Even though I also love to do free-hand Bangla typography, I have done something in various fields. But the ‘fork’ logo is not a free-hand typo; it gradually got stuck in the head. I thought one day a mosquito coil would make the form visible to me. What did you want in the logo? Does the vorticity come geometrically, subject to the cyclical tendency of time? And I wanted the title to hint at the historical background of the film. Friends who have done my photos are also very aware of typos in their photo names. I saw the typo of Nurul Alam Atiq’s ‘Red Rooster Comb’, and I saw the typo logo of Mustafa Sarayar Farooqui’s ‘Dub’. Individual effort is noteworthy.
I always have this feeling that almost all of the painters in this country are people of my acquaintance or our family because I was teaching at the fine arts institute. After the sudden demise of poet Amitabh Pal, I suddenly noticed the skill and innovation of Dewan Atiqur Rahman’s typography while standing on the dais of the memorial meeting. Later, a detailed exchange of ideas about the typologo of ‘Kanta’ started with Atiq on the phone and WhatsApp, and more than one logo started to be created day by day. Maybe in the eleventh version, it seemed that what was needed had arrived. 10–12 artists are involved in the production of thorn images. Dewan Atiqur Rahman also joined the team because of the typography. Best wishes to Atiq on this Lagna. The Bengali and English logos of the film have also been finalized by maintaining the arrangement. A bit of my freehand typography was also used in the Bengali version of Atiq’s thorn logo, because of Atiq’s interest.
The Circle of Helplessness, Self-Reproach, and Delusion, or helplessness, self-loathing, and confusion Three chapters in the thorn First, 1989–90 reality; second, 1971 reality; and third, 1964 reality. “The past penetrates into the future through the present; the future in the thorn picture will penetrate into the past through the present”. That’s the At-A Glance fork. Great magical story.
Around five hundred people worked tirelessly behind the camera and in front of the camera, where the production team members worked tirelessly. The production of this expensive periodical film is now nearing completion due to the financial support of some relatives. I am eternally grateful to all those people.
Design by Dewan Atiqur Rahman, The Thorn logotype was officially revealed. Bengali and English logos will be used from now on. And of course, in a few days, the thorn will be exposed before your eyes.
Just wait a few more days. Although we know that waiting is hard, it is also sweet.
