Dhaka Bureau: Awami League presidium member Farooq Khan has commented that there is no such thing in the constitution to ensure the participation of the BNP in the elections.
He said these things after participating in a dialogue with the Election Commission at the election building on Saturday.
Farooq Khan said that the current situation in the country is in favor of the national elections. BNP is not carrying out a political program; it is doing violence.
No one was found at the BNP office to accept the Election Commission’s invitation; when asked about this, Farooq Khan said, ‘It is a shame for the BNP.’
The Election Commission invited 22 parties for talks in the first phase this morning. Of these, 9 teams did not participate.
Besides, 22 other parties have been invited for discussion in the second phase starting at 3 p.m. today.
The Election Commission is holding these discussions to inform the parties about their election preparations and seek their recommendations, said election officials.
Four election commissioners, including Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal, were present in the morning meeting.
