The Prime Minister is going to Saudi Arabia on Sunday

Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave for Saudi Arabia tomorrow (November 5) to attend the International Conference on Women in Religious Islam held in Jeddah. Saudi Arabia is hosting the conference on November 6–8 in coordination with the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Foreign Minister Dr. in a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday. AK Abdul Momen told reporters that five issues will be discussed at the conference and the ‘Jeddah Document on Women in Islam’ will be published.

According to the official schedule of the Prime Minister’s Office, a commercial flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

He will arrive at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah around 1:30 p.m. local time. The Prime Minister will recite the Rawza Mubarak Ziarat and Fateha of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the evening. Sheikh Hasina will leave Medina for Jeddah by train on the morning of November 6. In the evening, he will attend the conference and give an address.

He is OIC Secretary General Hissen Brahim Taha, Vice President of Iran’s Department of Women and Family Affairs Ensih Khajali, and Executive Director of the OIC Women’s Development Organization. Afnan will also hold meetings with Alshuaibi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. Besides attending the conference, she will attend the inauguration of the exhibition titled ‘Women in Islam’ and a dinner organized in her honor.

The Prime Minister will later travel to Makkah from Jeddah, where he will perform Umrah. Sheikh Hasina will leave Makkah for the country on November 7. A Biman Bangladesh Airlines commercial flight carrying the Prime Minister will depart King Abdulaziz International Airport at 10:45 p.m. local time.

The plane is scheduled to land at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on November 8 at 8 a.m. The 49th session of Foreign Ministers held in Mauritania in March 2023 called for an international conference on women in Islam and welcomed the proposal to host it by Saudi Arabia in coordination with the OIC headquarters.

The aim of this conference is to clarify the rights and responsibilities of women in Islam, especially the rights of women in education and work according to the teachings of Islam, through the wide participation of scholars of the Muslim Ummah.
